Lakebridge Boat Upholstery rebuilds seats the way they were originally made, panel by panel. Your old cover comes off and becomes the pattern, so the new one fits the foam and frame it was born on instead of approximating it. That is the difference between a re-covered seat that looks factory and one that looks re-covered.
Materials are the whole game on a lake boat. The vinyl is marine grade with UV inhibitors and a mildew-resistant backing, in a standard and a premium weight. The thread is PTFE, a fiber sunlight cannot rot, because seams are where lake seats die first. Staples are stainless. None of that costs extra, it is just what the published prices buy.
Foam is where we save you money. Most shops bundle it; we price it separately at $60 to $180 per cushion and replace only what fails a squeeze test. On covered-slip and garage-kept boats that is often nothing, which drops a quote hundreds of dollars below what owners expect.
The common jobs: sun-cracked helm chairs on runabouts, flattened laybacks on pontoons, bass boat pedestal seats worn through at the bolster, back-to-backs with rotted hinges, and ski boat engine-box cushions that never quite fit after a previous owner’s repair. Seat questions we hear weekly
Can a torn seat be patched instead of re-covered?
A tear along a seam can be resewn cheaply and invisibly. A tear in the middle of a panel cannot be patched without looking patched, so that panel gets replaced, which is what a re-cover is. We tell you which one you have from a photo.
My seats are pink-stained from mildew. Will new vinyl do it again?
Pink staining comes from bacteria feeding on trapped moisture, usually under a non-breathing cover. New marine vinyl resists it better, and the storage fix matters as much: vented covers and dry foam. We address both or the stain comes back.
Do you rebuild the plywood bases too?
Yes. Rotted bases get rebuilt in marine plywood and sealed. A wobbly seat is a base problem more often than a foam problem, and re-covering over rot wastes the vinyl.
How do I know if my foam needs replacing?
Squeeze it after a rain. If it weeps, holds water or stays dented, it is done. If it springs back dry, it stays and you do not pay for it. That test happens on every quote.
